A Kamloops lawyer who is currently suspended has been practicing covertly.

Nickolaus Harold MacDonald Weiser's most recent suspension started just last month, but the BC Law Society said today, Oct. 26, it's investigating accusations he's still practicing law despite its previous ruling.

The law society wants the public to know he's suspended and he's not legally entitled to practice law in BC.

It's not the first time he's been suspended, as his current three-month suspension was handed down in response to the exact same accusation during a previous suspension in 2021.

The law society ruled he would be suspended as of Sept. 25, and ordered he pay more than $11,000 in costs.

Weiser didn't immediately respond when contacted by iNFOnews.ca, but a voicemail message at his office advises he's suspended and callers should contact the law society.

A law society spokesperson said its also investigating accusations the broke into his office and took equipment once he was given notice of a suspension.

Earlier this year, the law society found he facilitated a series of loans to clients from a company had a financial stake in. He didn't tell the clients he had in interest in the loan company and there was no evidence to suggest they consented to the conflict of interest.

The decision at the time broke down six instances of professional misconduct and his conflict of interest.

He's been suspended a half-dozen times in his law career, which started in 1984.
