VERNON - RCMP are asking for public assistance to help them find several suspects who forced their way into a Vernon home to steal guns from a safe at The Strand Lakeside Resort.

The resort is located along Okanagan Landing Road near Okanagan Landing Elementary School. The 34-year-old victim of the home invasion was restrained, then he was made to open the safe, Dec. 23, 2014, according to a media release. The victim didn't report the incident immediately fearing reprisals from the suspects.

During an investigation into a separate file, one of the handguns, a .357, was recovered Dec. 25. A Glock 9mm is still missing.

Vernon RCMP are asking anyone with information about this event to contact their nearest RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
