Suspects in stolen pickup tracked down by Kelowna police dog

An RCMP helicopter and a police dog helped track down a pair of suspects in Kelowna who took off on foot after abandoning the stolen pickup they were in.

An RCMP helicopter and a police dog helped track down a pair of suspects who took off on foot after abandoning the stolen pickup they were in.

At around 10 a.m. today, Kelowna RCMP received information about a man wanted on several outstanding warrants was driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck stolen out of Golden, according to an RCMP media release. The warrants originated in Creston.

The crew in the police helicopter spotted and stolen truck and officers contained the vehicle. RCMP don't say where in Kelowna this happened.

A man and woman tried to run away after abandoning the pickup, but with the help of a helicopter above, a police dog found them.

A 38-year-old man and a women were arrested.

The unidentified man is facing seven charges including possession of stolen property, flight from police and resisting arrest. RCMP don’t say what happened to the woman officers arrested.
