PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP arrested a suspected thief who was in possession of a number of stolen passports and other identification last week.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police checked a suspicious man on Sunday night, Jan. 22, near Cherry Lane Mall and discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest.

The man was in possession identification stolen from a truck theft on Balsam Avenue earlier this month. The identity had since been used in a fraudulent transaction.

Wrigglesworth says passports belonging to a family whose vehicle had been broken into Jan. 19 were found. Identification from three other individuals, stolen prescription medication and cameras were also recovered.

The man was held in custody for court earlier this week, Wrigglesworth says. He faces several counts of possession of stolen property and fraud.
