Suspect in Salmon Arm break-in arrested after overdose

FILE PHOTO

The suspect who broke into a downtown Salmon Arm drug dispensary last week ended up in hospital for treatment of a drug overdose.

RCMP were called to the unidentified drug dispensary on Friday, Feb. 28, to investigate a break and enter. RCMP say it was not a cannabis dispensary.

"The investigation revealed that the thief did not get what he was looking for but instead stole other drugs which could be physically dangerous to him," Staff Sgt. Scott West says in a media release.

A short time after attending the scene of the break-in, RCMP responded to assist paramedics who had received a call about a man overdosing and found what they believe to be bottles stolen from the dispensary, along with other items connected to the crime.

The man was transported to hospital for treatment.

Salmon Arm RCMP continue to investigate the break-in and the man's connection to it.
