Police caught one man then released him after several grassfires in Kamloops on Sunday.
Four fires were reported along Summit Drive, Oct. 5, before others flared up near Grandview Terrace and Columbia Street West, RCMP said.
"There was no significant damage as a result of these fires," Kamloops media relations officer Cpl. Dana Napier said in a news release.
Police arrested a man matching witness descriptions, but later released him as there wasn't enough evidence to lay charges, RCMP said.
The first fires were around the 1300 block of Summit Drive, where firefighters responded to four set within 20 minutes at around 4:40 a.m. Just after 7 a.m., police were called when other fires were set near Grandview Terrace.
“Police are investigating to determine whether or not these fires are related," Napier said.
Anyone with information about these fires are asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite files 2025-33257 and 2025-33264.
