Suspect arrested after smash-and-grab at Vernon convenience store

A 46-year-old Vernon man is cooling his heels behind bars after he was caught by police following a smash-and-grab at a convenience store Tuesday night.

A 46-year-old Vernon man is cooling his heels behind bars after he was caught by police following a break-in at a convenience store Tuesday night.

Officers responded to a glass break alarm at Happy Days Food Store at the corner of 25 Avenue and 39 Street at around 10 p.m., Sept. 10.

The front window of the store had been smashed and a number of items were stolen, according to an RCMP media release.

Police got a description of the suspect and he was arrested in the area.

The 46-year-old suspected remains in custody and he’s scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
