After a rather gloomy past few weeks, the sun is expected to break through this week in Kamloops and even more so in the Okanagan.
While there is a 30% chance of showers in the Okanagan today, Feb. 8, and an equal chance of showers or snow flurries tonight, sunshine is forecast for Friday and Saturday, according to the Environment Canada online forecast.
A high temperature of 3-4 Celsius in the Okanagan today will drop to overnight lows of -6 C. The sunny days will be chilly with daytime highs of only 1 C forecast for Friday and Saturday. Penticton could be a degree or two warmer.
Those are normal temperatures for this time of year.
Kamloops is expected to have a 30% chance of flurries this morning then clearing later in the day with a high of 3 C followed by an overnight low of -6 C.
Friday is forecast to be sunny but Saturday could start getting cloudy again.
Flurries or rain showers are expected Sunday in Kamloops, possibly turning to snow at night. Rain on Sunday in the Okanagan could also turn to snow at night.
Temperatures on Sunday are expected to rise to 2-3 C on and up to 3-5 C early next week. It’s expected to cloud over again for most of next week.
Today’s precipitation is likely to result in snow in mountain passes with accumulations of up to 4 cm in some locations. No travel warnings have been issued by Environment Canada.
