THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - We may be starting the day well below seasonal normals but the next couple of days will be sunny and warm.

Seasonal normal low temperatures sit at 2 Celsius in Kamloops and 3 C through the Okanagan while seasonal normal high temperatures range from 14 C to 16 C. Today has started off cooler but will warm to between 16 C to 18 C and as warm as 20 C Thursday.

Environment Canada shows both days bringing sun over the region before cloud settles in for the rest of the week-long forecast. Temperatures will also cool to just below normal beginning Saturday.

On the Interior highway passes increasing cloudiness will bring a chance of showers or flurries this afternoon but in most cases will clear by the early evening.

Avalanche risk throughout the region has continued to lower and Avalanche Canada currently rates the Columbias, Glacier National Park, Kootenay Boundary and the Purcells as a moderate risk in the treeline and alpine elevations and a low risk below the treeline.

This Sunday, April 12, marks the final day of skiing at Sun Peaks and Big White resorts. Big White has received 15 centimetres of snow in the last week while Sun Peaks has received 19 cm. Silver Star Mountain and other smaller hills have already closed for the season.
