Sunny summer weekend in store for Kamloops

Don't put away the sunglasses and sunscreen just yet, you'll need them in Kamloops this weekend with a forecast calling for sun and heat.

Summer weather is returning to Kamloops this weekend.

There’s no rain expected into next week and temperatures are expected to climb back into the upper 30s Celsius by Sunday, with lots of sun coming, Environment Canada says.

The temperature should start to climb after today, just in time for a hot, sunny weekend.

Today, expect a mix of sun and cloud before clearing in the afternoon, with a high of 26 C and an overnight low of 16 C.

A sunny day is expected Friday with a high of 28 C and a low of 14 C.

That’s right on par with the seasonal normal daily high for this time of year, which is 28 C in Kamloops.

Saturday, look for more sunshine, a high of 32 C and a low of 15 C.

Sunday should see a high of 35 C under sunny skies, with an overnight low to 18 C.

A sun and cloud mix is expected Monday and Tuesday, with highs of 35 C and 32 C respectively.

It should get down to 16 C Monday night, which is three degrees higher than the normal average low for this time of year, which is 13 C.

The warming trend will also be felt in Alberta, where The Weather Network says sun and warmer temperatures are expected after a cool week across that province. A return to a more active weather pattern is expected during the latter half of next week, however.

A series of overnight storms moving through the prairies that prompted tornado warnings in Saskatchewan are expected to roll into northwestern Ontario this morning, with the possibility of severe weather there today.
