OKANAGAN - Sunshine and warm temperatures today and tomorrow in the Okanagan will give way to an unsettled weather pattern that could bring showers for the rest of the week.
Environment Canada meteorologist Carmen Hart says look for mainly sunny skies with north winds at 20 km/h and a daytime high between 15 and 18 Celsius today, April 1, in the Okanagan. Tomorrow's forecast calls for much the same, with sunshine and slightly above normal temperatures for this time of year. Overnight lows will be around the 1 C mark.
Hart says the weather pattern will start to change overnight tomorrow as a ridge of high pressure that dominated the weather over the past few days erodes, and a number of low pressure systems make their way through the Okanagan.
“We are expecting showers for the rest of the week, with the heaviest rain on Friday,” Hart says, adding the showers will linger into the weekend.
The forecast calls for cloud both Wednesday and Thursday with a 40 per cent chance of showers both day and highs around 11 C.
Rain, with a daytime high of 12 C and an overnight low of 7 C, is anticipated on Friday.
Cloudy skies and a 60 per cent chance of showers are forecast for Saturday and Sunday with highs around 14 C.
Normal temperatures at this time of year are highs of about 13 C and lows around 1 C.
