Sunny but chilly this week in the Okanagan

Temperatures will be on the cool side this week in the Okanagan.

You can expect a week of sunny skies but cold temperatures in the Okanagan.

Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon says an arctic front passing over the valley today, Oct. 28, will bring brisk winds and cooler temperatures for the next few days.

The forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud today with north winds at 30 km/h gusting up to 50 this morning before increasing to 50 and gusting to 70 by noon. Today’s high in Kelowna and Penticton is predicted at 8 Celsius and 6 C in Vernon.

Skies will remain clear overnight with lows down to -8 C in Vernon and Kelowna, and -5 C in Penticton. Any wind overnight will make those temperatures feel even colder.

Tomorrow should be sunny and cold with a high of 0 C in Kelowna, 1 C in Vernon and 3 C in Penticton. Overnight lows will drop to -5 C in all three cities.

Sunny skies are expected through Friday, with a high Wednesday of 3 C and a low of -3 C.

The weather should be pleasant for Halloween on Thursday with sunny skies and a daytime high of 6 C, and clear conditions with an overnight low of -4 C.

The sunshine is expected to continue into Friday with a high of 5 C and a low of -1 C.

Saturday and Sunday are expected to be cloudy with highs of 9 C both days.

Normal temperatures at this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of 8 C and lows of 0 C.
