Sunny and warm start to the week in Kamloops

A disturbance expected to bring some midweek rain to Kamloops is just about all that is standing in the way of an otherwise sunny and warm week.

Skies are expected to cloud over Tuesday night in anticipation of a 70 per cent chance of showers Wednesday, along with a high of 15 Celsius, but after that skies should clear and temperatures should rise to summery highs by the weekend.

It’s actually a pretty decent forecast when one considers Ontario’s this week, where The Weather Network reports a May polar vortex is expected to bring localized accumulations of snow to southern Ontario and potential record cold May highs to the province on Thursday and Friday. It’s not that great in the prairies, either, where  The Weather Network says a cold weather pattern is expected to return later this week and run through Mothers Day following rain, snow and wind in Alberta today.

In Kamloops, Environment Canada says the city should see sunny skies today, May 4, and a high of 19 C, with easterly winds at 20 km/h near noon, becoming light this evening.

Tonight’s low is expected to dip to 5 C.

Tuesday should see a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 20 C before clouds roll in, bringing a possibility of showers and a high of 15 C on Wednesday.

Thursday through Friday should be warm and sunny, with highs of 21 C and 23 C respectively, and lows of 6 C and 9 C.

The weekend looks very promising at this point, with mainly sunny skies and temperatures expected to reach 26 C for both Saturday and Sunday.

Kamloops normally sees a high of 20 C and a low of 6 C this time of year.
