KAMLOOPS – Elli Terwiel will hit the slopes in Sochi as part of the Canadian Olympic Team in February.

After announcing the first six racers earlier this month Alpine Canada announced the final nine alpine ski racers heading to the Olympics this afternoon. Terwiel joins Erin Mielzynski and Larisa Yurkiw of Ontario and Marie-Pier Prefontaine, Britt Phelan and Marie-Michele Gagnon of Quebec as part of the women's team.

The civil engineering student had a successful 2013 before suffering a minor concussion leading up to the Courchevel race just before Christmas. She finished just out of the top-10 in World Cup racing in Finland in November and was 17 in both Slovenia and Austria last January. She also finished in third in the Canadian championships last year.

She joins speed skater Jessica Hewitt in representing both Canada and Kamloops at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Hewitt was nominated to the team back in August.
