UPDATE: Black ice caused accident at Sun Peaks

KAMLOOPS - Black ice is to blame for an accident that happened this morning on Sun Peaks road.

The single vehicle crash happened about 7 a.m. at the outskirts of the village. Mounties at the scene say the road was coated with black ice. Witnesses told police the driver was moving below the speed limit before losing control.

The driver was taken to Royal Inland Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries. The roadway was shut down so a road maintenance crew could sand the icy area.

Motorists are reminded that road conditions are subject to condition changes at higher elevations as we get into the winter months.

UPDATE: Sun Peaks Road has been sanded and is open.

KAMLOOPS - RCMP are advising drivers that Sun Peaks Road is temporarily closed in both directions after a single vehicle collision due to black ice this morning.

The roads are currently being sanded and are expected to reopen around 9:30 a.m.
