Summer has arrived in Kamloops

It’s safe to say summer has arrived in Kamloops.

There is a chance of showers tomorrow and Wednesday night, but otherwise the next week’s worth of Kamloops weather should be ideal for those summer activities you’ve been waiting to do.

If it seems like that summer forecast has been elusive in this part of the country this year, you’re right. The Weather Network reports as of mid-July, Vancouver had not seen a single day this year where the high reached 25 C, compared to Toronto, where the city recorded a high of 25 C or more 39 times. That should change this week as today could be the warmest of the year so far in Vancouver with a high of 27 C expected.

Environment Canada says to expect sunny skies and a high of 33 Celsius in Kamloops today, July 20, with winds becoming southeast at 20 km/h this afternoon. Tonight should see partly cloudy skies along with a low of 17 C.

There is a 30 per cent chance of showers on Tuesday under a mix of sun and clouds. Tuesday’s high should reach 32 C with an overnight low of 18 C. Winds are expected from the southwest at 20 km/h, gusting to 40 in the afternoon.

Wednesday should see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 29 C. There’s a 70 per cent chance of showers overnight Wednesday with a low temperature of 15 C expected.

From Thursday through Sunday the forecast can be summed up in one word – sunny.

Thursday’s high should reach 30 C, with Friday cooling off a bit to 27 C.

It warms up for the weekend with a high of 30 C on Saturday and 31 C expected Sunday.

Normal temperatures for this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 29 C and lows of 14 C.
