PENTICTON - If you haven't heard, there's a big music festival on this weekend called Boonstock. If you don't care, maybe there's something else you'd rather be doing.
Perhaps the Rotary Wheels Car Show is more to your liking. It runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at Rotary Park located at Lakeshore Drive and Martin Street. It's a family oriented event featuring antique cars and entertainment.
Keeping with the theme of checking out awesome vehicles Skaha Beach is the place to be Sunday Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the JCI Penticton's Jacked & Juiced - Custom Truck and Car Show. Vehicles are on display to the public for free and there'll be a beverage garden on Skaha Beach from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
If you like the sound of your own voice, a trip to the Open Mic Jam at VooDoo's may be the thing to do. The event takes place each week on Sunday night from 7 to 10 p.m. VooDoos is located at 67 Nanaimo Avenue east.
If you like to dance to the sound of your neighbour's voice, A Karaoke Dance Party will get you ripping up the dance floor at Fibocacci Roastery & Cafe each Friday from August 1 to 14 starting at 7 p.m.
And finally, if you want someone with a proven track record to sing to you but in a more intimate environment, Aiden Mayes and Mandy Cole will be offering Music Therapy at the Winery Patio on Saturdays, August 1-14 from 1 to 5 p.m. The Patio is located at 40 Debeck Road in Naramata.
The weather isn't likely to be a big concern this weekend unless you don't like it hot. There's a 30 per cent chance of thunderstorms on Saturday, but other than that, expect temperatures between 31-33 C and plenty of sunshine.
So if none of the above is to your liking, it'll still be a great weekend to kick back and enjoy a cold drink at the beach, or at home on the deck.
