Studios, guilds and galleries await you this weekend in Kamloops, Okanagan

Talented community artists are being featured in several venues across the Okanagan Valley and Kamloops this weekend, providing affordable viewing opportunities for families and art lovers to enjoy.

Penticton’s annual Fall Art Walk is on this weekend to be viewed and enjoyed by walking, cycling or driving.

Sponsored by the Downtown Penticton Association and Penticton Art Gallery, this year 22 venues are showcasing artworks at 19 different locations including studios, dens, galleries and guilds showing anything from acrylics and paintings to glasswork to jewelry. Many stops will have refreshments, snacks and music on offer and artists in attendance. 

Fall Art Walk 2023 runs Saturday, Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is wheelchair accessible.  Maps will soon be available at the Leir House at 819 Main Street.

In Kelowna, the Ponderosa Fibre Arts Guild is showcasing a variety of fiber arts and guest artists from around the Okanagan Valley at the Annual Artisan Sale 2023.

Spinning, weaving, felting and crochet are just many of the traditional fibre art forms to see, purchase or learn about at the one-day event.

Located at First Baptist Church at 1309 Bernard Avenue, the Annual Artisan Sale is running from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Art lovers in the North Okanagan might want to check out the Vernon Fall for Art Annual Show hosted by Okanagan Artists of Canada Society. The non-profit society art club features creative artists from the Vernon and surrounding areas and is one of the oldest art associations in the province.

Located in the Vernon Community Arts Center at 2704A Highway 6, the Vernon Fall for Art Annual Show runs all weekend from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18 and from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

If you haven’t checked out the exhibits hosted by the Kamloops Arts Council yet, they will be open for viewing this weekend in the Vault, Alcove and Hallway galleries of the Old Courthouse. 

Created by Kamloops Textile Artists, this month’s exhibit, “Divergence” is a collection of textile-based artworks where the artists used creative styles and surface-design techniques.

Also on exhibit is “sel·couth: smoke & shadow” by Indigenous multimedia artist Shay Paul. The artwork was created with heavy inkwork and has fantastical themes and symbolism.

Located at the Old Courthouse at 7 Seymour Street West, the “Divergence” exhibit can be viewed in the Alcove and Hallway galleries while “sel·couth: smoke & shadow” can be viewed in the Vault gallery from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18. Admission is by donation.
