When one door closes, another opens.

Consistently warm temperatures have ended the outdoor skating season at Stuart Park, but that means the gate at Kasugai is set to open for the spring season.

After tonight’s skate, the Stuart Park outdoor rink will be closed for the season as the ice can no longer be maintained. Indoor skating is still available at Rutland Arena, Capital News Centre and Memorial Arena, visit kelowna.ca/recreation for public skating times. The fire pit at Stuart Park will also be turned off until the next skating season.

Just across Water Street, the gates of Kasugai Gardens will open for the spring season tomorrow. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the gardens offer the tranquil environment of a traditional Japanese garden complete with stone lanterns, pine trees, a waterfall, pond and koi fish. The gardens were completed in 1987 to symbolize the friendship between Kelowna and Kasugai, Japan, sister cities since 1981.

The gardens are open until 8 p.m. during the summer.
