Strong winds heading through B.C. Interior

A low pressure system is expected to bring winds up to 70 km/h throughout the B.C. Interior tonight and Friday, Environment Canada said in a special weather statement this morning.

The heads up is for South and North Thompson, Okanagan, Shuswap and Nicola valleys but in the Williams Lake, Cariboo, Chilcotin and Fraser Canyon, winds could be gusting up to 80 km/h.

It's expect some time tonight, then the associated cold front will sweep south to the southern interior and reach Washington State in the evening.

This is only a weather statement, at this point. When weather becomes more severe, it can trigger advisories, watches, then warnings.
