Streets packed at Kamloops Santa Claus Parade

The Kamloops Santa Claus Parade began on 2nd Avenue. Decorated floats and people marched down the streets handing out candy to spectators on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018.

KAMLOOPS - The holiday season is well on its way kicking off with the Kamloops Santa Claus Parade.

Before the parade could begin patrons had to "wake up Santa" at Kamloops square around 10:30 a.m. The procession began at 11 a.m. starting in Downtown Kamloops at 2nd Avenue and St. Paul Street.

Approximately 80 floats rolled down 2nd Avenue to Victoria Street ending at 6th Avenue. Following them were marchers handing out candy, spreading good cheer and even accepting letters to Santa.

The sun was shining, the temperature was five degrees Celsius, and there were nearly a thousand spectators in the streets. Traffic to downtown was backed up on the Overlanders Bridge from the North Shore.
