WEST VANCOUVER, B.C. - A North Shore Rescue team lead seven hikers to safety Saturday night after they became stranded on St. Mark’s Summit near the Cypress Mountain ski area.
Team Leader Mike Danks said his team was deployed after the hikers lost sight of the trail, and had everyone off the mountain by midnight.
One of the hikers was a man with diabetes who was reported to be in medical distress.
But Search and Rescue manager Alan McMorty said a doctor checked the man over and determined he was never in any difficulty.
McMorty noted the group had only a single flashlight when they set out yesterday.
He advises that anyone heading into the North Shore mountains pack warm clothes, extra food, and headlamps for all members of their group.
