The storm that swept through the North Okanagan last night also swept away some floaters on Okanagan Lake near Vernon.
RCMP called on the volunteers with Vernon Search and Rescue to locate and rescue the stranded group last night, Aug. 23, according to a media release.
The crew jumped into the search and rescue boat, and two hours later, returned the floaters to shore.

The search group points out in the release it was a much longer and wetter night for the people stuck on the lake in the storm.
Search and rescue reminds people to keep an eye on the weather and be sure they're able to adapt to changing conditions, adding while the storm wasn’t in the forecast, it could be seen building for several hours.
“If you do not have the gear, skills or experience to safely respond to unexpected changes (in the weather), it’s smart to come up with a different plan,” the release said.
