A passing storm dumped hail on the Sun Peaks village yesterday.

It looked like Christmas in July as the hail covered parts of the village, July 17, as seen in village webcam photos.

A thunderstorm passed over Kamloops and Sun Peaks yesterday afternoon, and while it brought precipitation, lightning is suspected to have started at least two fires in the region.

One is between Sun Peaks and Chase, near Skmana Lake. It's currently less than a hectare in size.

The other was on the southern slope of Mount Harper, which was quickly tackled yesterday afternoon.
