Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,643.22 down 44.44 points):

Air Canada (TSX:AC.B). Airline. Down 46 cents, or 6.03 per cent, to $7.17 on 11.5 million shares.

Fortis Inc. (TSX:FTS.IR). Utilities. Down 32 cents, or 1.06 per cent, to $29.88 on 8.7 million shares.

Teranga Gold Corp. (TSX:TGZ). Miner. Up nine cents, or 12 per cent, to 84 cents on 6.7 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace. Down five cents, or 1.25 per cent, to $3.96 on 6.2 million shares.

Luna Gold Corp. (TSX:LGC). Miner. Unchanged at $1.33 on six million shares.

Baja Mining Corp. (TSX:BAJ). Miner. Down one cent, or 14.29 per cent, to six cents on 5.2 million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (958.76 up 0.13 points):

Caribou King Resources Ltd. (TSXV:CKR). Miner. Up three cents, or 75 per cent, to seven cents on 7.7 million shares.

True Gold Mining Inc. (TSXV:TGM). Miner. Down 6.5 cents, or 14.13 per cent, to 39.5 cents on 4.3 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY). Down 77 cents, or 1.11 per cent, to $68.77 on 2.5 million shares. The Canadian banking giant says it has agreed to sell two Jamaican subsidiaries for an undisclosed amount to Sagicor Group Jamaica Ltd. Although RBC wasn't releasing transaction details, the bank disclosed it will book an estimated $60-million loss on the 2008 acquisition of one of the two subsidiaries, RBTT Securities Jamaica Ltd.
