Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,517.59 up 69.89 points):

Colossus Minerals Inc. (TSX:CSI). Miner. Up two cents, or 44.44 per cent, at 6.5 cents on 4.97 million shares.

Sherritt International Corp. (TSX:S). Up 50 cents, or 14.79 per cent, at $3.88 on 2.55 million shares. The company is selling its entire coal business in Canada to two separate buyers for a total of $946 million: Colorado-based Westmoreland Coal Co. and Altius Minerals of St. John's, N.L., (TSX:ALS). Altius' stock was up $1.33, or 12.55 per cent, at $11.93 on 110,307 shares.

Niko Resources Ltd. (TSX:NKO). Oil and gas. Down 26 cents, or 8.18 per cent, at $2.92 on 1.77 million shares. The Calgary-based company closed deals to raise US$340 million in new senior secured terms loans and C$33 million in a stock offering Monday.

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB). Wireless technology. Up 27 cents, or 3.38 per cent, at $8.25 on 1.77 million shares.

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Up 68 cents, or 3.84 per cent, at $18.40 on 1.51 million shares. The gold sector led all the subgroups higher, up 3.42 per cent to 155.34 points.

Toronto Venture Exchange (903.22 up 6.23 points):

Lincoln Mining Corp. (TSXV:LMG). Miner. Unchanged at a penny on 4.49 million shares.

Reva Resources Corp. (TSXV:RVA). Miner. Unchanged at 2.5 cents on 3.06 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Plane and train maker. Up three cents, or 0.65 per cent, at $4.62 on 976,123 shares. The transportation maker has received a firm order for 10 Challenger business jets, which have a list price of about US$280 million. Bombardier Aerospace said the customer's name isn't being disclosed.

Centerra Gold Inc. (TSX:CG). Miner. Up 19 cents, or 4.79 per cent, at $4.16 on 494,008 shares. The Toronto-based company reached a tentative deal with the Kyrgyz government and the state-owned Kyrgyzaltyn JSC on a new ownership structure for the Kumtor gold mining operation.
