PENTICTON - It’s been almost three months since Boonstock weekend and festival organizers still have not received a copy of the RCMP expense report, which outlines additional costs incurred over the four-day festival.
Forty officers were scheduled to work the festival weekend and racked up a $200,000 bill paid for by Boonstock. But in September, RCMP notified organizers they needed to the pay extra cost of bringing in in additional officers to assist with security and public safety after the needs were not met by the hired private security firm.
According to a release issued by the RCMP in September, Boonstock owes another $50,000. The provincial government also billed organizers $177,000 for outstanding costs.
The Penticton Western News obtained a copy of the report from RCMP through a Access to Information Act request, however, Boonstock organizers say they have requested the information several times but have yet to receive a copy of the invoice.
RCMP could not be reached for comment.
