Still no charges for Kelowna man who released racist tirade against security guard

Kelowna man Bruce Orydzuk was seen protesting COVID-19 vaccinations outside of the Trinity Church, July 13, 2021.

A Kelowna man under police investigation for a racist tirade during an anti-vaccination protest earlier this year was among the same group that disrupted a Remembrance Day ceremony in City Park.

In July, Bruce Orydzuk told a Sikh security guard to go back to his country and called him disgusting during an anti-COVID-19 vaccination protest outside of a Kelowna vaccination site.

The Kelowna RCMP said it is investigating the incident as a possible hate crime but has not sent any charge recommendations to the B.C. Prosecution Service at this time.

“We are still preparing the disclosure package to forward to B.C. Prosecution Services for charge approval,” said RCMP Cpl. Tammy Lobb, via email.

A video posted by Global Okanagan shows a woman talking into a mic following a Remembrance Day ceremony at Kelowna's cenotaph, Nov. 11.

Orydzuk can be seen in the video standing beside her and holding a GoPro.

Police are looking for video of the event, said Insp. Adam MacIntosh, with the Kelowna RCMP, in a press release issued after the incident.
