Springtime? Temperatures could hit 10 C in the Okanagan this weekend

This weekend's Okanagan weather includes the promise of a sunny day with temperatures expected to reach 8 Celsius on Sunday, but cloudy skies should prevail on Saturday.

There’s a chance of rain and flurries over the next few days in the Okanagan, but temperatures are expected to remain slightly above seasonal norms into next week, with the upcoming weekend a combination of clouds, sun and overnight precipitation.

Today in Vernon and Kelowna there is a 40 per cent chance of flurries under cloudy skies before giving way to a mix of sun and cloud this afternoon.

Wind should become south at 20 km/h gusting to 40 this afternoon with a high of 9 Celsius in Vernon and Kelowna.

In Penticton, clouds should give way to a mix of sun and cloud later this morning, with winds south at 30 km/h gusting to 50 and a high reaching 10 C.

Tonight’s low in all regions is expected to dip to 0 C under partly cloudy skies.

Friday should see a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 10 C in Vernon and Kelowna, and 9 C in Penticton, followed by a low of 0 C with cloudy periods overnight.

Clouds return on Saturday with a high of 6 C and a low of -2 C.

Sunny skies are forecast for Sunday with a high reaching 8 C and a low of -1 C overnight. There is a 30 per cent chance of flurries under cloudy skies through Sunday night.

Rain is expected on Monday, with a high to 5 C. There is a 60 per cent chance of rain or flurries overnight along with cloudy skies and a low of 0 C.

Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be mainly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers on Tuesday, and the highs for both days at 7 C.

The normal high and low for Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton this week are 5 C and -4 C.
