WHL roundup: Rucks rise for Tigers in 3-1 win over Vees

PENTICTON — Liam Ruck's power-play goal at 2:28 of the third period snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers to a 3-1 win over the Penticton Vees in the lone Western Hockey League game on Monday's schedule.

Markus Ruck had a goal and assist for the Tigers (10-4-1-0), while Ethan Neutens scored into an empty net with 53 seconds left in the game at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Brady Birnie scored for the Vees (7-5-1-1), who were outshot 30-26.

The Vees led 1-0 after the first period, but were tied 1-1 heading into the third.

Tigers netminder Jordan Switzer stopped 25 of 26 shots, while Andrew Reyelts stopped 27 of 29 for the Vees.
