OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Trinidad Chambliss passed for 314 yards and a touchdown — a third straight 300-yard passing performance for the Division II transfer— and No. 13 Mississippi defeated No. 4 LSU 24-19 on Saturday.
Kewan Lacy ran for a 15-yard touchdown and former LSU running back Logan Diggs added a 6-yard scoring run for Ole Miss (5-0, 3-0 SEC), which outgained the Tigers, 480 yards to 254.
LSU (4-1, 1-1), which has struggled to run the ball this season, played without top running back Caden Durham and gained just 57 yards on the ground. That placed added pressure on quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who completed 21 of 34 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown, but also was intercepted once.
NO. 1 OHIO STATE 24, WASHINGTON 6
SEATTLE (AP) — Julian Sayin completed 22 of 28 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns to help No. 1 Ohio State beat Washington in the Big Ten opener for both teams.
Jeremiah Smith had seven catches for 62 yards and a touchdown, an 18-yard strike that gave Ohio State (4-0) a 7-3 lead with 1:08 left in the first half. On third-and-11, Sayin avoided a seven-man blitz to locate Smith.
Ohio State coasted the rest of the way. CJ Donaldson had a 1-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter and caught a touchdown pass in the fourth.
Grady Gross made two field goals for the Huskies (3-1).
Washington converted just one of 11 third-down attempts, and Demond Williams Jr. was sacked a season-high six times. Ohio State’s Caden Curry set career highs with three sacks, five tackles for loss and 11 total tackles.
NO. 6 OREGON 30, NO. 3 PENN STATE 24 2OT
STATE COLLEGE (AP) — Dillon Thieneman intercepted Drew Allar’s pass in the second overtime period and No. 6 Oregon outlasted No. 3 Penn State.
Jamari Johnson ran for a touchdown in overtime, Dierre Hill Jr. caught a touchdown pass, Jordan Davison ran for another score and Atticus Sappington kicked a field goal for the Ducks (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) who won their FBS-leading 23rd straight regular-season game.
They also improved to 12-0 in regular-season Big Ten play and did so in one of college football’s most hostile environments, winning the rematch of last season’s conference championship game. They did so despite 111,015 fans — most of them clad in all white — trying to lift Penn State in the final minutes.
They nearly did so.
Trailing 17-10, Penn State got the ball with 7:07 left to play. An offense that had managed just 189 yards to that point drove down the field where Allar hooked up with Devonte Ross for a 7-yard touchdown to force overtime.
Ross caught a 35-yarder from Allar earlier in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough to keep Penn State from falling to 4-21 against AP Top 10 teams since James Franklin became coach.
NO. 17 ALABAMA 24, NO. 5 GEORGIA 21
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Ty Simpson passed for 276 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score as No. 17 Alabama held on late to beat No. 5 Georgia to hand the Bulldogs their first home loss in six years.
Alabama (3-1, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) has won three straight opening the season with a 31-17 loss at Florida State.
Georgia (3-1, 1-1) fell behind 17-7 in the first half and never led. The Bulldogs fell to 1-7 against Alabama under coach Kirby Smart, the Crimson Tide’s former defensive coordinator.
Alabama ended Georgia’s home winning streak at 33. It was the longest active streak among FBS schools and included 10 wins against Top 25 teams.
NO 9 TEXAS A&M 16, AUBURN 10
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Le’Veon Moss ran for a career-high 139 yards and a touchdown and No. 9 Texas A&M held off Auburn on Saturday to improve to 4-0 for the first time since 2016.
Texas A&M’s offense struggled at times, but the defense was solid all day, holding the Tigers to 176 yards and 0 of 12 on third-down attempts.
Texas A&M (4-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) was driving in the fourth when Marcel Reed’s pass was tipped and intercepted by Xavier Atkins, who returned it 73 yards to the 2. Jackson Arnold scrambled in for the score on the next play to get the Tigers to 13-10 with about 10 1/2 minutes to go.
Auburn’s defense got a stop after that, but the Tigers couldn’t move the ball, with a sack by Cashius Howell forcing a punt less than six minutes left.
NO. 11 INDIANA 20, IOWA 15
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Fernando Mendoza threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Sarratt with 1:28 to play to give No. 11 Indiana a 20-15 win over Iowa.
Mendoza connected with Sarratt, who had six catches for 132 yards, on a slant route down the left side and Sarratt broke the tackle attempt of Iowa’s Deshaun Lee on his way to the touchdown.
Indiana (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten), which came into the game ranked second nationally in total offense and scoring offense, was held to 337 yards and its lowest scoring output of the season. But the Hoosiers got two touchdown passes from Mendoza, who threw for 233 yards, and two field goals from Nico Radicic.
Iowa (3-2, 1-1) had a chance to break a 13-13 tie with 2:01 to play, but Drew Stevens missed a 42-yard field goal.
NO. 14 IOWA STATE 39, ARIZONA 14
AMES, Iowa (AP) — Rocco Becht rushed for three touchdowns and threw for 243 yards, Carson Hansen ran for two scores and No. 14 Iowa State beat Arizona.
Chase Sowell caught four passes for a career-high 146 yards, including receptions of 43, 32 and 52 yards.
Becht completed 14 of 20 passes for the Cyclones (5-0, 2-0 Big 12), who led 36-7 midway through the third quarter. His nation-leading streak of consecutive games with a touchdown ended at 22.
The teams were meeting for the first time since 1968, with Iowa State beating the Wildcats (4-1, 0-1) for the first time since 1958.
Tight end Ben Brahmer had one of the game’s highlights when he took an inside handoff and passed 45 yards to Brett Eskildsen to set up Becht’s third 1-yard touchdown run.
Noah Fifita was 32 of 48 for 253 yards and two touchdowns for Arizona.
NO. 15 TENNESSEE 41, MISSISSIPPI STATE 34, OT
STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Joey Aguilar forced overtime with a 6-yard touchdown run with 1:55 left and DeSean Bishop scored on a 25-yard run on the first play of the extra session in No. 15 Tennessee’s victory over Mississippi State.
The Volunteers (4-1, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) trailed 34-27 after Zakari Tillman’s interception and Seydou Traore’s 2-yard scoring run.
Tennessee tied on a 13-play, 75-yard drive. After Bishop scored in OT, the Vols stopped the Bulldogs (4-1, 0-1) on downs inside the 5.

NO. 16 GEORGIA TECH 30, WAKE FOREST 29, OT
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Georgia Tech intercepted Wake Forest’s 2-point play for the win in overtime to help the 16th-ranked Yellow Jackets edge the Demon Deacons, capping a wild day that saw them rally from 17 down in the third quarter to stay unbeaten.
Haynes King ran for two touchdowns to lead the Yellow Jackets (5-0, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), including a tough 2-yard keeper to start the OT. The Demon Deacons (2-2, 0-2) responded with Demond Claiborne’s next-play 25-yard scoring run to the left pylon.
But with Claiborne shaken up on the play and quarterback Robby Ashford hobbled, first-year coach Jake Dickert played for the win. Ashford rolled to his right looking for a target, but ultimately had to force the ball back toward the middle — where E.J. Lightsey picked it off at the goal line to end it.
NO. 18 VANDERBILT 55, UTAH ST. 35
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Diego Pavia threw five touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead No. 18 Vanderbilt over Utah State.
Pavia completed 26 of 34 passes for 321 yards and rushed for 79 yards. He became the second Vanderbilt quarterback since 1996 to collect six-plus touchdowns in a game and tied the program’s single-game passing touchdown record alongside Johnny McCrary (2014), Jay Cutler (2005) and Bill Wade (1950).
He’s got the Commodores off to a 5-0 start for the first time since 2008.
Junior Sherrill had 91 yards receiving and caught three of Pavia’s touchdown throws. It was the first time Sherrill has scored more than one touchdown in a game.
Eli Stowers and Richie Hoskins also had receiving touchdowns and Makhilyn Young scored a rushing touchdown. Brock Taylor made two field goals.
NO. 20 MISSOURI 42, UMASS 6
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Beau Pribula completed a Missouri-record 21 straight passes, Ahmad Hardy ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns and the No. 20 Tigers beat UMass to improve to 5-0.
Hardy sparked the Tigers’ opening drive, gaining 41 yards on four carries before limping off the field after a tackle. While Hardy headed to the medical tent, Jamal Roberts finished off the drive with a 9-yard touchdown run.
UMass (0-4) capitalized on a mistake by Pribula when linebacker Timmy Hinspeter returned an interception 63 yards to the 21. Six plays later, AJ Hairston threw a 2-yard scoring pass to Max Dowling. Defensive tackle Sterling Webb blocked the extra point to keep it 7-6 lead.
After that, it was all Tigers.
Pribula played virtually flawless after the interception, completing the 21 consecutive passes to break the school record of 20 set by Chase Daniel in 2008. Pribula finished 26 of 29 for 241 yards and a touchdown.
NO. 23 ILLINOIS 34, NO. 21 SOUTHERN CAL 32
CHAMPAIGN, Ill.
Luke Altmyer drove Illinois to David Olano’s 41-yard field goal as time expired, lifting the No. 23 Illini to a victory over No. 21 Southern California.
Altmyer was 20-for-26 passing for 328 yards, helping Illinois bounce back from last weekend’s 63-10 loss at Indiana. He threw for two touchdowns, rushed for another score and caught a TD pass.
Illinois (4-1, 1-1 Big Ten) opened a 31-17 lead early in the fourth quarter. But Southern California (4-1, 2-1) went ahead for the first time on Jayden Maiava’s 16-yard touchdown pass to Makai Lemon with 1:55 left.
NO. 22 NOTRE DAME 56, ARKANSAS 13
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — CJ Carr matched a Notre Dame freshman record with four touchdown passes and Jeremiyah Love caught two scoring passes and rushed for two more scores as the No. 22 Fighting Irish beat Arkansas.
Carr went 22 for 30 passing for 354 yards and matched the TD passing record set by Ron Powlus, who threw for four scores in his first career game against Northwestern in 1994. Carr, a redshirt freshman, threw for 294 yards and the four TDs in the first half, leading scoring drives of 75, 73, 75, 70, 75 and 45 yards. He did not play in the fourth quarter as Notre Dame led by 36 points.
Love caught TD passes of 7 and 34 yards, and had scoring runs of 1 and 3 yards, finishing with 14 carries and 57 yards.
Also for Notre Dame (2-2), Jadarian Price scored twice, on a 35-yard strike from Carr and on a 3-yard run. Carr also found Will Pauling with a 23-yard TD strike, and Aneyas Williams completed Notre Dame’s scoring with a 17-yard run in the fourth quarter.
NO. 25 BYU 24, COLORADO 24
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Cody Hagen scored on a 32-yard run early in the fourth quarter and Bear Bachmeier threw two touchdown passes, helping No. 25 BYU rally from an early deficit to beat Colorado.
Cougars linebacker Isaiah Glasker sealed the win by intercepting Kaidon Salter’s pass with 50 seconds remaining.
Bachmeier was 19 of 27 for 179 yards and connected with Chase Roberts for two short TD passes. The freshman QB also rushed for 98 yards as the Cougars (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) started 4-0 for a second straight season.
The Cougars, who trailed 14-0 midway through the first quarter, took the lead for good on an end-around play that befuddled the Buffaloes. Bachmeier faked an inside handoff before flipping the ball to Hagen, who sprinted into the backfield from his receiver spot. He was hardly touched and followed a convoy to the end zone with 14:02 remaining.
The Buffaloes (2-3, 0-2) had something going on the next drive, but Omarion Miller was called for holding on a big run from Salter. A play later, Salter was sacked for a 22-yard loss with Dre’lon Miller wide open. As Salter walked off the field, coach Deion Sanders appeared to be saying “wide open.”
