OLIVER - A small South Okanagan ski resort hopes to grow its clientele on an international scale through investment in real estate development.

Baldy Mountain Resort, around 35 kilometres east of Oliver, recently announced the development of the McKinney subdivision with initial offerings priced below market value.

Construction manager Wade Wilk says the first of four planned phases will see 29 lots created, 24 of which are single family residential and five designated commercial. The lots are located 1.5 kilometres from the ski hill’s day lodge.

He says the real estate development represents the start of a new era in the history of the ski resort.

Baldy Mountain general manager Andy Foster says the resort has partnered with international real estate developer Hsin Chong Group Holdings.

“By aligning ourselves with a larger international organization we will receive some of the benefits of larger resorts while still operating as the local Oliver ski hill,” Foster says. Future plans include the addition of on-mountain accommodation.
