South Okanagan RCMP made several arrests following an investigation into drug trafficking.
Plainclothes and regular officers were recently involved in a joint operation into suspected drug trafficking in Oliver, police spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in a press release issued today, Oct. 22.
A controlled drugs and substances act search warrant was executed at a residence in the 7000 block of Highway 97 in Oliver on Oct. 9, leading to several arrests.
Four men, all known to police, aged 34 to 60 were found inside the residence.
They were arrested and later released. Police gathered evidence and have forwarded a report to the Crown prosecutor’s office for an assessment of charges.
Officers seized 1.5 ounces of cocaine, more than $5,000 in Canadian currency and a loaded handgun at the residence.
“All officers within the Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen regional detachment remain proactive in our effort to prevent illegal drugs and dangerous weapons from being on our streets,” Const. Grandy says in the release.
RCMP urge residents to report suspicious activity to their local RCMP detachment or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
