South Okanagan General Hospital emergency room shut down tonight

Oliver General Hospital's emergency ward will be closed Sunday , Aug. 13, in the afternoon from 3 p.m. until 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2017

The emergency room at South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver is shutting down from 6 p.m. Oct. 7 to 8 a.m. Oct. 8.

Interior Health said in a press release it has to shut down the emergency department tonight because there are not enough doctors available.

For those who need emergency services in the area, the closest emergency department is at the Penticton Regional Hospital.

The rest of South Okanagan General Hospital will be operating as usual.

Interior Health asks residents to always call 9-1-1 in the case of an emergency.
