South Okanagan doggy daycare calendar hot item this Christmas

A canine calendar put together by Penticton Pet Resort's Lindsey Denton has turned out to be a big seller, raising $3,000 for two local animal charities.

A propensity for pet photography led to a charitable fundraising idea that has really taken off for a Penticton pet sitter.

Lindsey Denton of Penticton Pet Resort is preparing to provide local animal charities Critteraid in Summerland and the BC SPCA in Penticton with cheques for $1,500 each later this week.

She raised the money through sales of a pet calendar created from photos taken of her client’s pets.

“My staff and I have been taking pictures for a long time. I must have 20,000 photos on my phone, and we get a lot of funny shots,” Denton says.

The idea to make a pet calendar came from a social media follower who saw Penticton Pet Resort’s photo postings on their Facebook page.

“I thought it was a fantastic idea, then I thought we could do some good at the same time. We found a couple of charities we could fund and my clients did the rest by supporting it,” Denton says.

The 2021 calendar features Penticton Pet Resort’s client’s dogs and costs $21.

“I made 125 initially, and they all sold out pretty fast, so I ordered more, but it seems like people are still wanting it. I’m going to make one more order before the end of the year,” Denton says, adding her clients have “scooped them up.”

This is the first year Denton has produced the calendar.
