KELOWNA - Residents of Kelowna who get their drinking water from the South East Kelowna Irrigation District or the Hall Road water well are being placed on a boil water notice.

The Kelowna Joint Water Committee issued the notice today after routine monitoring showed possible contamination.

Water used for drinking, tooth brushing, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing food, making baby formula and making beverages and ice should be boiled for one minute before use.

Commercial bottled water can also be used.

The boil water notice remains in effect until further notice.

Boil water notices are used in situations in which the public health threat posed by the water supply system is significant and the nature of the threat is one that can be effectively addressed through boiling of the water, the press release says.

For more information or if you unsure of your water source can go to www.kjwc.org.
