Social media buzzing with solar eclipse excitement in Interior

The partial solar eclipse in Kelowna, Monday, Aug. 21, 2017.

While there wasn't a total eclipse in the Southern Interior today, there still has big excitement and interest in the partial blotting out of the sun by the moon.

People attended solar eclipse viewing events throughout the region.

Hundreds of people gathered at the International Building at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops to check out the celestial display.

In Vernon, hundreds turned out at the Okanagan Science Centre and Polson Park to watch the moon block out a piece of the sun.

Hundreds of people lined up in Kelowna at the local curling club to have a look at the eclipse with the telescope set up by the Okanagan Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.

Judging by the buzz on social media, people were pumped to view the once or twice in a lifetime event.
