Toronto striker Danny Koevermans out for season, will need knee surgery

TORONTO - Toronto FC striker Danny Koevermans has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be out the rest of the season.

The MLS club said there was no date for the surgery yet.

The club also didn't provide a timetable for the Dutch forward's return

Koevermans had an MRI Monday after injuring his knee in Saturday night's 1-0 win over the New England Revolution.

Koevermans was hurt as he chased after a ball on the right side of the penalty area in the 37th minute. Defender A.J. Soares collided with the big Dutchman in what seemed a clash of knees.

Koevermans is tied for fifth in league goal-scoring with nine this season.
