Toronto FC confirms interest in veteran Italian defender Alessandro Nesta

TORONTO - Toronto FC coach Paul Mariner says veteran Italian defender Alessandro Nesta is one of his targets.

The 36-year-old centre back has spent his entire career at Lazio and AC Milan.

He left Milan in May after 10 years, saying he wanted to continue his career outside Europe, possibly in MLS.

Earlier this week, Mariner said his 2-10-2 team needs a boss in the backline.

And after practice today he confirmed that Nesta "is on our own list of targets."
