A snowmobiler’s cabin and pickup truck were destroyed by fire overnight on a rural backroad near Kamloops.

It was shortly after 4 a.m. today, Oct. 28, when Kamloops resident Darin LeBlanc saw fire along the Sawmill Forest Service Road near Tranquille Lake.

LeBlanc wasn’t the only one on scene and others called the RCMP. The truck was located at the 27 km mark and the snowmobiler's cabin, located at the 31.5 km mark, was part of the Tranquille Lake/Porcupine Meadows Snowmobile Trail System, he said.

“They burnt one of their warm-up shacks,” he said. “It was sad to see someone do that, it was irresponsible.”

He said the RCMP were notified.

The Kamloops RCMP rural detachment could not be immediately reached for comment.
