A storm system moving into B.C. tomorrow morning, Dec. 10, is expected to dump up to 50 centimetres of snow on the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt.

An Environment Canada storm warning has been issued for the area, saying the heaviest snowfall and highest winds will be around noon on Saturday before tapering off Sunday.

Visibility will be reduced to zero at times as winds may gust up to 80 km/hr.

That section of the Coquihalla is closed due to washouts on Nov. 15.

Winds are expected to gust to 60 km/h.

The heaviest snowfall is expected from Friday night to Saturday afternoon.

Highway 3 is the only highway open between the Interior and Lower Mainland and is limited to essential travel only.
