Winter is returning to mountain passes this weekend.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning of up to 15 cm of snow expected to fall on high elevations over the weekend.
An intense cold front is expected to make its way across the province, starting Saturday night.
Only the highest elevations are expected to receive snow as snow levels are expected to be around the level of the mountain passes on the Coquihalla Highway and the Trans-Canada Highway, Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.
High winds are also expected to produce blowing snow and poor visibility.
The snow is expected to taper off later Sunday with snow levels dropping quickly to valley bottoms by Sunday evening.
Weather alerts can be monitored at Environment Canada.
Motorists should check with Drive BC for road conditions.
