Snow should change to rain by weekend in Okanagan

Snow is expected in the Okanagan today and tomorrow night, but warmer temperatures over the weekend will see precipitation turn to rain on Saturday.

KELOWNA - A wintery day in the Okanagan will give way to rain as weekend temperatures are expected to rise.

Okanagan residents will see a return to snow on the valley bottom today, Jan. 17, before temperatures warm up over the weekend.

Environment Canada is calling for periods of snow today with up to two centimetres worth expected and a high of -1 C. The temperature is forecast to fall to -3 C overnight.

Tomorrow is expected to be mainly cloudy with a high of 2 C and a low of -1 C with snow forecast overnight.

Snow will turn to showers on Saturday as the daily high climbs to 5 C, with an overnight low of -2 C.

On Sunday, sunny skies will prevail with a high of 3 C and a low of -2 C.

Normal temperatures for this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of around -2 C and lows of about -8 C.
