Snow is falling on the Okanagan Connector this afternoon.
A look at Drive B.C.'s Elkhart West highway cam on Highway 97C tells the story as heavy, wet snow nearly obscures the camera’s lens.
The highway remains bare for now, but snow is accumulating on the side of the road and on the ground.
Weather alerts are in effect for the Okanagan connector, the Coquihalla Highway, Highway 3 and the Trans-Canada Highway through Rogers Pass, with accumulations up to 10 centimetres expected tonight, Sept. 27.
Local ski areas are rejoicing the sudden change in weather, with Vernon’s Silver Star Resort reporting the first snowfall of the season today.
Apex resident Jamie Florek noted on social media Apex Mountain Ski Resort, 45 minutes west of Penticton, received a dusting this morning and says up to 42 cm is expected over the weekend.
For the lastest road conditions go to Drive B.C.'s website here.
