VERNON, B.C. - One person has died at a ski resort in British Columbia's Okanagan region.

The sales and marketing director of SilverStar Mountain Resort says one person died in the Powder Gulch area of the mountain on Saturday.

Ian Jenkins did not specify how the death happened, but says there are no indications of an avalanche having occurred.

Jenkins says the resort and its staff want to offer their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the person who died.

He adds that resort staff would not be making any further comments and directed questions to RCMP.

Vernon RCMP did not immediately return a request for comment.
