A Shuswap man is $100,000 better off after winning big on Keno.

Sorrento resident Glenn Welschlau scooped the six-figure prize money after buying a ticket in at the Copper Island Pub on Sept. 2.

According to a B.C. Lottery Corporation media release, Welschlau rarely play the bonus when buying Keno tickets but did so that day.

"At first I thought I had… won $35,000," he said in the release. "I didn’t have my glasses on and I thought I only saw two times the bonus. My friend turned to me and said that it was seven times the bonus. I started to lose it."

Welschlau immediately called his wife although she didn't believe him until he put her on speakerphone and she heard the celebratory excitement in the background.

The retired Sorrento resident has bought a Jeep with his winning and plans to buy new gutters for his house as well as a 75-inch TV.

He reports he's "happy" about the win.
