FILE PHOTO

A Shuswap resident was killed on the Trans-Canada Highway when the vehicle they were driving crossed the centre line and collided with a semi-truck last night.

According to a Salmon Arm RCMP media release, a Shuswap male was travelling westbound on Highway 1 near Tappen at roughly 11 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, when the Toyota he was driving crossed the centre line into the path of an eastbound semi-truck.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the semi was uninjured.

The highway remained closed for roughly four hours while an investigation took place.

No other details were given in the RCMP media release.

The incident is one of several that took place in the Southern Interior in the last few days that have claimed the lives of four individuals.
