KAMLOOPS – An injured Mountie has returned to Kamloops where he will continue his recovery.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Cheryl Bush said Cpl. Jean-Rene Michaud was transported to Royal Inland Hospital after his condition stabilized in a Vancouver hospital where he was transferred due to complications.
During his recovery, members of the public raised funds for Michaud and his family. Michaud’s wife, Colleen, released a statement last week to thank the public for its support.
Michaud was shot by a suspect after pulling over a vehicle in the early morning hours of Dec. 3. The Batchelor Heights neighbourhood was locked down as police searched for the suspect for 12 hours.
Kenneth Michael Knutson was arrested in connection to the shooting and faces several charges, including attempted murder.
Knutson is expected to appear in court for a bail hearing on Feb. 12.
