Shopping cart race back for fourth year

KELOWNA – The annual fundraising event where teams race around Kelowna in decorated shopping carts is back for the fourth year in a row.

The Arthur Cottie Memorial Push to End Homelessness is a fun way for locals to raise money for Inn From the Cold as well as help spread awareness of the challenges faced by those who live on the streets.

The race kicks off May 23 at the Inn From the Cold emergency winter shelter on Sutherland Avenue. Teams then cross town completing mini challenges along the way. The day wraps up in Kerry Park with a community BBQ, live music and prizes.

Inn from the Cold-Kelowna is a registered charity that provides support services to people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness in our community. They provide an emergency winter shelter, outreach and case management, a housing program, a homelessness prevention program and a street soccer team.

The PUSH is still open for team registrations, and with three weeks to go you still have time to collect pledges. Get together a group of co-workers, classmates, or friends and register at www.innfromthecoldkelowna.org.
