OLIVER - A suspect is in custody following a shooting and home invasion in Oliver last week.

RCMP say an Oliver man was shot at a "problem residence" on Road 6 in Oliver around 9 p.m. May 28. On June 1, police arrested a 30-year-old Oliver man in connection with the shooting and home invasion.

Police spokesperson Const. James Grandy says in a press release officers have executed three search warrants in connection with the incident.

Along with the shooting and home invasion, police are also investigating an armed robbery on May 18. RCMP don't say if the home invasion and shooting and the prior armed robbery are connected, or where the May 18 armed robbery occurred.

"Police do not believe these incidents to be random and the public is safe," Grandy says in the release.

The suspect remains in custody awaiting charge approval and a bail hearing, police say.

Anyone with information regarding either of these investigations is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
